We Commons Android app developers try to monitor this page, but it is true that we do not monitor it as regularly as we should (statistics). This page is meant to be an easy way for users to provide feedback without having to create a GitHub account. People who actually have a GitHub account should rather create an issue on GitHub directly.

Our time is best spent coding, so we are looking for volunteers who would monitor that page, and create GitHub issues when bugs get reported for the latest app version (version can be seen in each post's title). I think Wikimedia should update the interface to a user-friendly mode, by providing users with options for how images/photos will be displayed. Users should also be able to bookmark/save images of other users they like and group them according to their views.

EN: It would be very nice if the location would change only on request. If I want to upload a previously taken photo later, I have to search for the desired location in a very time-consuming way.

DNG- / RAW- Dateien lassen sich auswählen aber das Hochladen bricht ab. Wenn DNG/RAW keine zulässige Erweiterung ist, sollte die Auswahl auch nicht möglich sein.

@Chris debian It should be possible to browse Google photos images while using the image picker (the second button after hitting the "+" icon on the Contributions screen). If you don't see it, kindly check if you have "Use document based photo picker" turned off in the Settings screen of the app. Feel free to ping for any clarifications. Здравствуйте! В данной версии приложения возможно участвовать в конкурсе "Вики любит памятники 2023"? При попытке загрузить фото выдаётся сообщение "Это фото будет участвовать в конкурсе за 2021г.". Так же сами фото стоят в очереди на загрузку. Стоит перейти на веб-версию для загрузки фото? Так как предлагаемые к съёмке объекты, на карте, в этом приложении не сопоставляются с теми, что в вебе.

kein Upload möglich: Bild wurde hochgeladen aber es erfolgte kein Abschluss. Nach dem Schließen aller Apps und einem weiteren Versuch, funktioniert es jetzt wieder sowohl per WiFi als auch per Mobilfunkt Netz.

Ich würde mir wünschen, dass es eine Pop-up-Meldung (oder eine eindeutige Fehlermeldung: mehr als "Fehlgeschlagen") gibt, wenn das Passwort nach einem Passwort-Wechsel nicht mehr gültig ist. Hintergrund: habe mein Passwort mit dem Web-Frontend gewechselt, aber nicht daran gedacht, es auch in der Common-App zu ändern. Habe eine ganze Weile gebraucht, um den Zusammenhang zu erkennen...

Check categories: In der Commons App die passende Kategorie zu finden ist deutlich aufwendiger - sowohl inhaltlich als auch zeitlich - als am Desktop. Die richtige Kategorie zum Beispiel für einen (Haupt-) Ort zu finden, ist einfach, aber dann die richtige Unterkategorie zu finden wird per Commons App schnell kompliziert . . .

Eine Alternative sind Arbeitskategorien wie zum Beispiel Category:Files related to Potsdam needing category review.
- Dafür müsste sich in der Commons App einstellen lassen, dass auch versteckte Kategorien angezeigt werden.
Eine weitere Alternative wäre das Setzen von {{Check categories}}. Dafür müsste es beim Hochladen ein Auswahl-Option für {{Check categories}} geben.

When I send a photo from my work profile in Google Photos to Commons, the location metadata is unavailable, and I need to manually copy it over in the web interface.

I'm not sure what permissions are required; I'm not being prompted for any.

I understand that this is an unusual workflow, but it should work. I don't have permission to select pictures from my work profile from Commons, so I can only send pictures this way.

Hey @grendel, sorry about the delay in response. Google Photos is notorious with trimming location information in the EXIF while sharing the images to our app. Is it possible for you to try with a different photo picker app? Thanks for the heads up; it's definitely a problem with Photos. I'll try to find a work around.

@Grendelkhan I think the app already provides a way to do the same. Could you possibly try using the latest 5.1.1 version of the app? You should find a way to edit the location in the upload form (look out for the map icon in the first screen). In der aktuellen Version werden alle jemals gesuchten Bilder angezeigt. In Bereichen, in denen es nur wenige Objekte gibt, ist das okay. In Bereichen mit hunderten Bilder dauert unerträglich lange bis alle Bilder nicht mehr "schwarz" sind. Manchmal stürzt die App sogar ab. Aus meiner Sicht sollten, so wie früher, nur die Objekte angezeigt werden, die noch gesucht werden. Oder es wird von Anfang an stärker gezoomt. Eine andere Lösung wäre es für mich, wenn Objekte, für die es Bilder gibt nur optional (über "Einstellungen") angeboten werden.

Hi and thanks @Kaartic. The errors occurs when I press the + sign on the bottom right corner, then pick the middle button to choose from my gallery, then if I choose more than one image I get a message saying "error occurred while picking images". I will try to see if I can upload a recording.

However the good news is I have found a workaround. If I press on the + button and then select the bottom of the three options that appear (the 'custom selector'), I can choose and upload multiple images from there with no problem. Thank you for the details! I could now understand your issue. I've opened an issue to track the same in our issue tracker. We'll get this fixed. Meanwhile, there is another workaround available for this issue. You could turn off the "Use document based photo picker" option in the Settings. This should also allow you to do a multi-upload.
